Morocco is all about getting out and about and experiencing the fascinating culture, the exotic sights, sounds and smells, a little cliché perhaps but it really is a feast for the senses!
Mint Morocco want to show everyone the very best of Morocco, see below a few examples of some of the unforgettable and unique experiences to keep all the family entertained:
Anyone for a swim?
Most of our selected properties in Marrakech and Essaouira have their own private pool, and many of our villas also heated swimming pools, ideal for the chillier months. With its many days of glorious weather, you can usually take a dip or a leisurely swim in your own pool from May until October. If you fancy a change of scenery, then why not head out of the city, and visit one of the city’s many swish country clubs, usually set in lush exotic gardens, with a large inviting pool, and usually with their own Spa. Here you can spend the day relaxing by the pool, soaking up the sunshine, enjoy an invigorating massage and have a spot of lunch.
Who's for tennis?
Many of our villas have their own tennis court or use of a shared court. Tennis coaching can also be arranged at selected properties, for both adults and children.
Try a round of golf!
Marrakech has become a popular choice for golfers, with its many superb, uncrowded Championship courses, reasonable green fees and year-round sunshine. Tee off times can be booked locally and caddies and buggies arranged.
Be Pampered - Spa and Hammam
There are plenty of wonderful spas in Marrakech to sample, and a traditional Moroccan hammam is simply a ‘must do’ experience! Step in to a marble domed steam room and let yourself be utterly pampered by the professionals, as you are gently washed down with traditional black soap made from olive and Moroccan argan oil and traditional rhassoul clay soap, before a more vigorous yet rejuvenating body scrub followed by a relaxing massage of your choice using heavenly essential oils.
Many hotels also offer other beauty treatments such as manicures and pedicures, as well as intricate henna treatments, why not have your hands or feet decorated in beautiful henna patterns which will last a couple of weeks to remind you of your fabulous stay in Morocco!
Moroccan Cookery Lessons
Moroccan cuisine is known for its tasty spices and aromatic fragrances, and combines aspects of both Mediterranean and Moorish cooking. We can recommend from our own experience, the merits, details and prices of some of the many Moroccan cookery courses on offer in Marrakech and Essaouira.
Some of our riads and villas offer their own informal cookery lessons in-house; alternatively there are many independent cookery schools in the Medina, who offer a total cooking experience of taking you to visit their local food and spice markets to buy the ingredients for the meal that you will learn to cook. At the end of the course, you usually sit down to lunch and enjoy the dishes that you prepared yourself!
Girly Getaways
With its colourful and intoxicating atmosphere, easy access and short flight times, there is nowhere quite like Morocco for a girly getaway! Mint Morocco specialise in arranging unforgettable trips for small groups wanting to celebrate a special occasion, or who just want to spend some quality time together, with their friends and chill out in exotic surroundings.
As well as helping you select a suitable riad or villa, with our insider knowledge, we can point you in the right direction for exploring the sights, souks and delights of the cities, visiting the most interesting artisan boutiques or eating out in some of the best cafes and local restaurants in town! But if you just want a calm place to relax, unwind and recharge your batteries, then your host can arrange in-house traditional hammam and massages, girlie ‘henna’ parties, special meals and cocktails…
Visit a Secret Moroccan Garden
Marrakech is renowned for its beautiful lush gardens and beautiful green spaces, full of vivid bougainvillaea, flowering oleander, sweet smelling roses, orange trees, palm and olive groves, many of which form a perfect backdrop for painters (including Winston Churchill!) and keen garden lovers to visit. Probably the most famous, is Yves St Laurent’s exotic Majorelle Gardens, a must see! But there are also other smaller, secret gardens to visit, with courtyards, fountains, tinkling water and birdsong…the perfect place to sip a glass of Moroccan mint tea…
Trekking in the Atlas Mountains
All mountain hideaways can arrange walks and treks with a qualified guide and mules, where you can meet the local Berber people and experience a slower pace of life in traditional surroundings. For the more adventurous, ascents of Mount Toubkal, Morocco’s highest mountain, can also be arranged on request.
A Desert Experience... a night in a bivouac tent under the stars
If you do not have the time to take a trip down to the Sahara desert (ideally a minimum of 3 days/2 nights is required) to appreciate the breath taking scenery then we can arrange for you to overnight in a luxury bivouac in the Agafay desert, about an hour’s drive from Marrakech.
